If you cook the food Congressman Boehner you should eat it

Congressman get paid while the government employees do not during this government shut down. If the Republicans in Congress refuse to pass to the budget because they dislike the Affordable Care Act otherwise known as Obamacare they too should not receive a paycheck while other hardworking government employees are the denied the opportunity to do their jobs solely because Congress did not do theirs.

Growing up my mother never prepared a meal for me that she did not eat of herself. Today, if I am cooked a meal at someone’s house I still hold true to that practice. I wait for the cook to sit down to eat before I do. This is fair and courteous.

As a pastor I feel it is shameful for so many people to be so ardent in their belief that honest tax-paying Americans with no insurance who do not qualify for Medicare, Medicaid, or Tricare should not receive any type of health insurance. In fact some politicians stated if you are terminally ill and we as a society should just let someone die. This idea is sickening to me especially in a country which prides themself on being a “Christian Nation.” The sick are one of the most vulnerable segments in any population the Affordable Care Act helps ensure Americans receive preventative care as well as an opportunity to receive treatment if and when they get ill. How can anyone with a heart deny that privilege to someone else. Furthermore as an American to keep be kept from having health insurance that our elected officials passed in Congress and signed into law by the president and upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court is unconstitutional. Honestly, I pity Rep. Boehner the Speaker of the House who I believe in his heart wants to allow the budget to go forth without attacking the Affordable Care Act. However, unfortunately for the American people he cares more about his place of leadership in this dysfunctional congress and the opinion of right wing extremist such as Sen. Ted Cruz and Rush Limbaugh and thus caters to a very small faction within his party. These are all more important to Rep. Boehner than having the government function, employees back to work and receiving their hard earned pay check. If that is going to be his political posture at the very least as a sign of solidarity with the American people None of them should accept a pay check until this government shutdown is over. In closing, Rep. Boehner you along with all those who are not working and receiving pay will be in my prayers.

I pray to God for your fortitude to do what is right in the midst of the careless, unconcerned, vindictive politicians and self-centered persons in Congress and powerful Republican operatives. Also,I pray for the sustenance, patience, and justice for those government employees who are not working due to no fault of their own, In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
